L’Ecoute NGO was launched in 1990 by a group of volunteers attending to the needs of disabled people (namely the hearing-impaired).
As the needs continued to grow, the volunteers continued to help until L’Ecoute NGO became an official organization in 1999.
Today, L’Ecoute works hand in hand with and for the disabled: deaf (hearing-impaired), blind (vision-impaired), or people with reduced mobility.
It is continuously helping them to achieve the following goals:
- Promote their social and cultural integration
- Foster their integration in the workplace
- Facilitate communication with others
- Assist in their transportation needs.
To ensure these goals are met, L’Ecoute created L’Ecoute Recycling in order to self-finance the NGO’s social projects while educating people at large on ecological issues.
By doing so, L’Ecoute can attain a double target:
- Help the ecosystem/maintain ecological balance
- Finance projects for the disabled
Mission:
- Listening to and assisting deaf/hearing-impaired persons and especially the most destitute/defenceless.
Objectives:
- Promote their social and cultural integration
- Foster their integration in the workplace
- Facilitate communication with others
